1500 + miles of Quality Family Time!!!
Last week we headed out from Cuero to a wedding in Wichita, KS leaving Wednesday and finally getting back home Monday. We made a pit stop in Houston to pick up the rest of the crew to make the journey with us (Megan, Gramere and Grandaddy). I figured this was going to either be the first or last family road trip ever. As it turns out we did pretty well overall, especially with a 2-year old in the carseat for 8 hours. We rented a minivan and crammed it full of our "necessities" as the girls like to call them. We left the Woodlands at 9:30 am and made it to Wichita at 7:30pm. It was a pretty smooth ride thanks to my expert use of cruise control. We had a really great time aside from having to "work" with Taryn and his not always happy demeanor. Hard to blame the kiddo, road trips aren't geared towards the little ones! It was great to see our Oklahoma family, wish it could be more often. There is talk of putting together a road trip next summer to Destin, Florida...
Your fearless leader!!! Also referred to as chauffeur (I drove all except about 200 miles, most of it with a smile)
The rest of the crew (Niki is taking the picture). Grandaddy spent most of the trip snoozing on and off. Taryn was absorbed in the DVD. Megan and Gramere took over the back seat. Megan working the laptop... never too far away from the office!
Group shot: Niki, John David (cousin and father of the groom), Gramere, Matt, Megan & Me
Matt and Taryn dancing to "YMCA". Matt was using Taryn to try and pick up chicks... Crash and burn Maverick.

Us and Gramere
Matt with my family. He seems to think that Taryn looks more like him, so he wanted his own family photo. In fact, we were out to eat and the waiter was putting together the bill and assumed that he, Niki and Taryn were together.
The real family. sorry Matt!
Taryn and Mommy at the reception. Unfortunatley this is how we get Taryn thru events like this these days. Whoever invented the portable DVD should be given an award!

Loot,
I love the family pics; especially the one with Matt, Niki & Taryn!
Brave. I think I would rather be punched in the face, than spend 10+ hours in the car with a two year old.
Hope you guys had fun. Everyone looks great!
Love,
Jen
why does everyone look happier in the "non real" family ;-)
I agree with the comment above, I think Niki and Taryn like the idea of me being the head of the household.
