Our Last OB Visit...?

We had our last appointment at the end of the day yesterday and the news is well not what we would have hoped. Two weeks ago our doctor checked Niki's cervix and she was barely a finger tip dilated, which all in all isn't too bad for two weeks away from our due date. Since then Niki has been having contractions on and off again and continued to work through all of her discomfort etc.

Yesterday was in fact her due date and the doctor checked her cervix again and to our surprise nothing had changed she is still barely a finger tip dilated. Damn, not what we wanted to hear. We at least thought she would be a 2 or something close to that... We had another look at our little one via sonogram and our doctor is not super worried about the baby at this point as there is still plenty of fluid surrounding the baby. The placenta is really beginning to calcify which is a sign things are ready in there! Our doctor seems to think that our baby is going to be somewhere between 7 and 8 pounds... Niki is hoping for the 6.5 range!

After talking everything thru with our doctor during our office visit we will continue on with our contingency plan to induce. Although this is not the way we want it we will begin the process on Sunday night if we do not go into labor before then. Please keep us in your prayers as Niki and I are a little worried about being induced. Especially Niki since she knows way too much about everything involved! All and all I am thinking it will turn out to be a good thing for Niki and the baby. We will be checking into Hotel St. Joseph's on Sunday night at 8PM! This will begin what may be a long process (as inductions sometimes take a while) so bear with us for a day or so and as soon as this little one is born I will be on the phone and letting everyone know!
