Playgroup trip to the local Zoo.

We have a zoo about thirty minutes away in Victoria and one of the mom's (Ms. Connie) suggested we take all of the kids on MLK day. Taryn and I had never been, so we were really excited to check it out. Taryn is really into animals so it was good to see some real ones other than cows, horses, dogs and cats. The zoo is very small which is pretty good considering the age and attention span of our group of kids. After the zoo we were off to the park for a little picnic.

The very first thing we saw was the tigers! GRRRRRR! One of the tigers was very frisky and would jump up on the glass windows and growl at the kiddos. Kind of scary...

Taryn was really into them and little did we know there was another one sleeping right underneath the window where we were standing.

Taryn also liked the javelinas.

Taryn and Ms. Connie checking out the jaguars.

Of particular interest was the Aviary where ducks and other assorted birds were free to cruise around. Taryn loved to feed them, but I was pretty sure he was going to end up in the water with them at one point.

Taryn liked to look at the alligators although they never really moved. I wonder what he was thinking looking at these weird things...?

Taryn and Trevor really liked to watch the otters swim by over and over and over!

I think we ended up spending most of our time in and around the sandbox. Our boys (the two girls that came with were smart enough to stay away from the boys and the sand) took over the sandbox and proceeded to make a mess of each other. They threw, kicked, rolled and dove into the stuff. I found sand all over the place when Taryn and I finally got home!

Sounds like a lot of fun. I love the zoo and can't wait to take Lilly.

Fun! We had an awesome zoo in Denver and we went there every week last summer. Ronaoke has a small zoo & Tristan loves it but I miss the lions and tigers and bears! We got 2 new animals last year and it made the paper - VULTURES. You know, like you see on the side of the road - ewwww!
